Britney Blind - Domination Sales

When I think about the missed opportunities of selling this show it legit makes me want to go into marketing. :pensiveney:

Ideally, they should:

  • Let B rest for the end of 2018 and just finish recording B10 :brityawning:
  • Do a cute livestream fan event to celebrate the 20th anni, announce B10 and drop a lead single teaser :surprisedney:
  • Drop B10 singles in first half of 2019 with big music videos, award show performances, talk show appearences and some viral Youtube stints (e.g. 73 questions) :bbmaney:
  • THEN announce the new residency with the album drop at the same time tour dates are normally announced. :pumped:
  • Release Netflicks documentary about the process of recording B10 and preparing for the new residency

OK, so assuming all the above is way too high expectation, AT LEAST they could have done this:

  • Tease the announcement properly with some mysterious IG stories to build hype :gimmemoar:
  • Make the announcement a proper functioning advert for the show where B is wearing a domination inspired costume, greets the crowd and announces the show herself + spends more time signing and taking photos with fans. :kisses2all:
  • Do a mini press tour to talk about the anniversary and simultaneously promote dom. Important that wardrobe and styling has a distinctive 'Domination' feel. :hiii:
  • Post Domination teasers on IG at least once a week, e.g. B trying on gorgeous costumes, doing vocal warm ups, rehearsing choreo + give snippets of song remixes, clues about the staging and do a 'meet the dancers'. :ahhh:
  • Do a '12 days of Britmas' where B gives away Domination tix every day leading up to Christmas to a superfan on social media
  • Do a 'Countdown to Domination' social media campaign with a new artwork released every day from the Domination photoshoot. :flawless:

Most of the above would be free or just making use of what they're paying for anyway!

The sales are really starting to concern me. These were the sales for opening night as of about a month ago-

These are the sales as of today-

It's virtually unchanged.

That's exactly my thought. News about her not selling well came few weeks ago, and I was unbothered.

But I checked few days ago and realized the 1st show was still only half sold. It shows there's too little hype built around this residency.

And we are still in November with the show starting in Feb.

I swear you folks act like Britney does not have things lined up to build excitement and the fact most folks will buy a month before or close to showtime.

She is Britney Spears. The first dates should sell out in minutes as POM did. Maybe they can fool the fans only so much???

End of the story.

I am sure Britney directly gets a bigger cut of this product than she does the cut of her music sales so the perfume is affecting her directly - the music is RCA's deal and they aren't paying to promote it so team Britney isn't promoting it either.  To me that's what this all seems like, nobody is willing to fund anything so they do the bare minimum to fulfill contractual obligations, Britney gets the sign on money from the casino and yadda yadda.  Nobody in control feels that new Britney material is worth investing in but the thing is they are doing it ALL wrong.  What a shame.

Wouldn't Britney have a 360 contract?

That would mean RCA would receive a cut of ALL of the Britney brand, whether it be from ticket sales, perfumes, merchandise...or music.

Of any of it, music makes the least amount of money. So it seems natural that at this point nobody (Britney, RCA) are putting in any effort.

I’d be shocked if she wasn’t easily accessible to see in concert for the past 5 years.  Between Vegas and touring it’s not a surprise that most people have seen her already.  I’ve seen her 13 times which is why I haven’t even looked at tickets yet.  Doesn’t mean I’m not interested, just means I’m not ready to plan another vacation around a 90 minute concert like I did for POM again so soon.  I just saw her in July.  I jumped on POM tickets because Vegas was new and fresh and a game changer for the city/entertainment plus I’d never been there before.

Since I’m not in Vegas can anyone speak to the fact that billboards are all over the city?  Planet Hollywood made a much bigger deal than MGM is it seems. I bet they know more about revenue than Exhale and Ticketmaster seating charts though.

This isn't a tour

Lantis didn’t compare it to a tour? It was compared to POM, which was another residency.

I wasn’t worrying too much last month, but seeing how few tickets sold since then, I’d be surprised if the show sold out. Yes, there’ll probably be a lot sold last minute, but demand doesn’t seem high. This is being advertised as an ALL NEW SHOW.

Good luck. I’m going to go but not this leg. If, the contract gets shorted to this leg instead of the two years and I miss out well I guess I’ll just have to live with that. Eventually, the prices will drop so I’m not rushed. We’ve all learned to not rush to get tickets now because of POM and have a better idea of when to get better deals on everything.

A surprise single or even a surprise album would generate buzz in her, but that's not going to sell tickets. People need to see her performing on chat shows, awards shows etc. But that requires extra rehearsals and with her rehearsing for a new show and  combine that with her 'work ethic' that's not going to happen.

Any other artist, i could see them doing everything they can to boost the sales for THEIR OWN show. I wonder if she even knows, or if they tell her tickets are selling fantastically lol.

I was looking at these top rated comments on Reddit Vegas talking about that NYPost article and they do make lots of sense:

"Theater is double the size. Most tickets for shows on the strip don’t sell this far in advance. She’ll be fine. NY Post knows nothing."

"Yeah, I found this article super weird. Months out and they expect her to be some level of sold out? ... Christmas is coming, Budgets dont roll until Jan 1, bonuses arent landing until Q1 anyway -- there's a lot of money and gifts coming peoples way between Feb and now. I think if anyone is gonna worry for her, it should be closer to mid January."

"Ok ...turns out we were both a bit off, park theater capacity is 5,200 and Zappos theater residency capacity is 4,600 (source wiki). Point remains the show doesn’t start for a long time and most people don’t buy show tickets in Vegas til the week/day of. No need to ever get worked up about a sensationalistic New York post headline."

The reason for the negative attention is because was a cheap shot comparing shows from new Vegas headliners to a previous Vegas headliner. (And probably the fact that Britney isn't as relevant as before so there isn't a lot to talk about so people will turn focus to this)

That said, I think people/fans just have issues with Britney and her team doing the 'bare minimum' in a lot of areas, which could include promotion.  But technically speaking, her show will do fine.

Fans just have to hope that Britney gives superior effort with a little bit of live singing (ballads etc...), pre-recorded tracks to all of her songs when not singing the few songs live, and superior choreography.

Perhaps her team should release clips of the new things she is working on the show to get people at least more interested.

I found this comment more interesting:

Britney who? Oh yeah--the chick with the HOTTEST gay back up dancers! I used to bang one of em a few years ago. He said they only speak or see her during practice. She's quite stand offish. He ALSO said she's not as gay friendly as her fans think. She was forced to make herself appealing to the gay community because managers and record execs knew we'd buy her music.

I really think the POM tour has done some considerable damage to her reputation. With her off shows and M+G dramas.

It's the first time I've actually seen fans start to turn against her, even when we were given 2011 and 2013 Britney people still seemed to eat it up.

If she does anything right now, she needs to release new music. Otherwise a new show means absolutely nothing to nobody - we already had a GH show. So either she markets this as a deep cuts type of tour or people really won't be interested.

I do wanna see the show but I cba to do Vegas again tbh, she should start a residency in Mykonos and have Lindsay Lohan as a special guest.

idk, she always seemed "gay friendly" to me. Even going back to the early days, she had gay backup dancers and we know she was close with Andre. Doesn't she have a couple of close gay male friends? Cade Hudson is one I know the name of.

That's true. I'm the back up dancer :mhmnod:

I feel like she probably doesn't care either way tbh. She probably has no interest in being a gay icon in general though.

Spoiler

Actually, she probably has no interest in being an icon in general :ohi:
