Lil Jay
Everyone complains (including me sometimes) how Britney's huge hits like OIDIA or Toxic didn't hit #1 on Billboard Hot 100. And during Britney era songs rarely entered that list because of that radio ban, but still many people know those 2001-2002 singles. And it seems like everyone only cares about US charts! Some people don't care about charts at all, and I agree with that too, cause it doesn't matter what chart position song is gonna get, quality and longevity matter more. But then again, I discovered this Media traffic page ( https://www.mediatraffic.de/ ) and it's basically a global TOP40 chart; every country counts in. So because I LOVE statistics and numbers, I was curious (and bored) and went to chart archives. I WAS SHOOK. Didn't expect those number at all and it actually made my day So...no need to tell that OIDIA and Toxic hit those number ones, but I was surprised with some other singles that hit top position too and many songs have peaked at Top10... maybe many of you have known this, but for guys that still don't have a clue I made this list: SONG PEAK POSITION NOTE ...Baby One More Time #1 (8 weeks at top position) Sometimes #5 (You Drive Me) Crazy #1 From The Bottom Of My Broken Heart -- wasn't released internationally Born To Make You Happy #1 Oops!...I Did It Again #1 (9 weeks at top position!) Lucky #2 (6 weeks at peak position) Stronger #3 Don't Let Me Be The Last To Know #10 I'm A Slave 4 U #5 (5 weeks at peak position) Overprotected #6 I'm Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman #6 I Love Rock 'n' Roll - (remember it's top40, so maybe it peaked inside top100 but it can't be seen) Boys (feat. Pharrell Williams) #18 Me Against The Music (feat. Madonna) #1 (4 weeks at top position) Toxic #1 (5 weeks at top position) Everytime #1 Outrageous - My Prerogative #4 Do Somethin' #13 Someday (I Will Understand) - Gimme More #2 Piece Of Me #6 Break The Ice #20 Womanizer #1 (2 weeks at top position) Circus #7 If U Seek Amy #18 Radar - 3 #2 Hold It Against Me #2 Till The World Ends #6 I Wanna Go #10 Criminal - S&M (Rihanna ft. Britney Spears) #1 Scream & Shout (Will.I.Am ft. Britney Spears) #1 (3 weeks at top position) Work ***** #9 Perfume - Pretty Girls (with Iggy Azalea) #17 Make Me (feat. G-Eazy) #15 Slumber Party (feat. Tinashe) - Besides latest singles' weaker sales, she has always ruled the worldwide charts!!! SLAY QUEEN Link to comment

RobRocks
Why don't people focus on this list instead of the Hot 100? This should matter more than the BBHot100, since Worldwide > America Link to comment

really really cool guy
Is it true that 'And then we kiss' was #1 for like 2 months on Israel and they had to take it down to leave the spot for another song? Link to comment

Wow never heard about that before, but now that you've told me I googled about it and you seem to be right!! On Wikipedia it clearly says it peaked at #1 in Israel, but doesn't say how many weeks. But on a few other sites and old forums it says it's true - 15w at #1 so they forcefully removed it from the radios Link to comment

And if it was no Music, Lucky would have been 6 weeks at #1 And btw, Music is best selling single that year. And OIDIA 3rd. Link to comment

PokemonSpears
Sadly that's how things are. She's from the US, and even if she wasn't, only American charts / sales is what's gonna be important or told in most cases. The US are the most powerful country in many aspects of culture/economy, etc, so a big part of the world plays by their rules. Plus there being no like, some kind of neutral entity that is checking these worldwide records (or if there is it's not very well known) and rewarding them, I don't think any other organization, magazine, record label is gonna take that responsibility and also I don't know how difficult it would be to keep track of the actual sales from all the stores and retailers around the world. But it IS nice that we, as fans, keep these achievements present. Link to comment

Unless you follow chart performance as a hobby, the east don’t give a ****. Link to comment
MissSpearsSaysSo
This is very impressive. Other than not charting, 20 is her lowest mark for a single. She still slays. Link to comment
Lil Jay
And crazy how Oops was a week longer at #1 than Baby, and both being at top position for 9 and 8 weeks. I was shook. And Xtina's Genie was #1 for 6 weeks. What A Girl Wants for one week. For example, in US Baby was #1 only two weeks, Genie five, What A Girl Wants two, and Oops didn't even reach #1. So basically Xtina was more successful in US and Britney worldwide from 1999 to 2000. Link to comment
