I like the melody of this song but started to appreciate it only when I heard a few good mashups (there’s one with Cry Me A River and another with Side to Side that I really like). What really puts me off this song is the instrumental with those cheesy Wild West sounds. With a better instrumental I can even let go of the overly processed vocals. However, I think if they improved both the vocals and instrumental, it could be a single material.

Dance music/remixes allow the song to breathe new life outside the album listener/mainstream radio. Some songs while good, wouldn't translate well to a club or dancefloor.

Remixes of popular songs have been around since the 70's -- nothing 'reductive' about it -- it's a lucrative business. Open yo mind

While I believe the remixes are good for being tipsy in the club or dancing with friends I can’t stand most of them. The original surpasses this boring remix.
