Anyone know the reason why In The Zone flopped in the UK??

Recommended Posts

I have always wondered why ITZ only made it to #13 in the UK?? Anyone know any reason why or what it could have been ?? Because MATM went to #2, Toxic and Everytime both went to #1 and I'm   sure I remember her UK leg of her Onyx Hotel Tour sold out in minutes. So what went wrong??

#13 sounds bad, but I remember there being loads of competition at the time.

Thanks to the Uk #1 hit singles of Toxic and Everytime, ITZ actually spent as long in the Uk album charts as the Britney album and almost as long as the Oops album... when will Glory? :umsaywhat:

Actually that link brought me up to this: http://www.officialcharts.com/search/albums/in-the-zone/ turns out it only charted at #13 in the summer of 2004. It's original chart position was #14. Still though, you'd think the album would have gone top 10 after the massive success of Toxic.

And this: http://www.officialcharts.com/charts/albums-chart/20031123/7502/ In the Zone was released the same week as new albums from Michael Jackson (greatest hits), Busted, Kylie Minogue and The Beatles (compilation) and there were many albums released in the previous weeks by Dido, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, REM, Sheryl Crow etc. that were still selling well.

It’s peak may not have been the best but In The Zone is actually Britneys 4th highest selling album in the Uk selling almost 600,000 and spawned a lot of hits, it’s stayed in the charts for a pretty long time if memory serves me right. I wouldn’t  consider this a flop at all, if you check Kylies album come out the same time and out peaked Brit but sales wise Britney sold a lot more and also all of a Britney’s singles from In the Zone outpeaked all of Kylies.

It spent 43 weeks in the charts. You can see for yourself here http://www.officialcharts.com/search/albums/in-the-zone/

Besides what eveyone thinks, she wasn't THAT popular during ITZ. she had a lot of haters too. she was most popular during OIDIA

In The Zone also didnt have a strong first single (MATM) maybe it woldve been diffeent if Toxic was the first single

Why did she have haters during ITZ?
