Why is Me Against the Music not loved?

I know it wasn't a big hit, but I love this song! I have no idea why no one seems to consider it a great song. First of all, MADONNA. Second, I just think it sounds amazing. I think the chorus is great and I love the pre-chorus where she sings fast. It's edgy and different from almost other song she has ever released. And the music video is also one of her best with some of her absolute BEST and hardest choreography. It's definitely a standout from In the Zone for me!

and i think because her voice doesn't stand up like on her other songs because of all the added vocals, it kinda drowns out her signature tone

This is actually one of the problems. For a lead single collab with arguably the biggest icon in the history of pop music, it's kind of underwhelming. It's a good song, nothing spectacular.

Toxic overshadowed it and Britney and Madonna never performed it together.That's why it's forgotten today.

MATM is my favorite Britney song and the [original] choreography is wig snatching, she also needs the suit costume in POM

Video is iconic, choreo is iconic, song is lackluster as ****.  I think it could've slayed if she'd collabed with Michael on it instead of Madonna. The style of the vocals matched him more anyways.  I'd rather hear that unreleased Girl Gone Wild remix featuring Britney than MATM.

Glad you showed it love though! It was my number 3. Toxic was first, then Everytime, then MATM.
