I love Britney  (then again, of course we all do lol) and one of the topics of Britney that fascinates me the most is actually her beginning, more specifically with her leading the 1999 Teen Pop Revolution. And how, during that time, four dancing, midriff-bearing, and bubblegum singing  blonde teen girls emerged during that time.  The first being Britney, and then Christina Aguilera, Jessica Simpson, and Mandy Moore. Basically I'm creating this for us to share memories of that time and if any of you remember those four girls.

Personally, I remember Britney and Christina the most, I heard about Jessica once or twice but  I never heard her music, and I remember knowing of Mandy a little more than Jessica but I only remember seeing the music video "I Wanna Be With You" in 2000 when it was on the soundtrack for Center Stage.

I actually been going through Mandy and Jessica's first albums its actually pretty good for 1999 bubblegum pop music.

I love the song "Walk Me Home" the most from Mandy Moore along with  Candy, In My Pocket. Jessica Simpson love I Wanna Love You Forever, Irresistible, I think I'm in love with you.

They were known as Britney BOMT, Christina Genie In A Bottle, Jessica I Wanna Love You Forever, Mandy Moore Candy. :urite:

Britney, Christina, Jessica, and Mandy were the main ones in that order.

Then there were the 2nd string gurls:  Hoku, Willa Ford, Samantha Mumba, and Vitamin C.

I love that song too!  I need Mandy to stop acting like her earlier work is embarrassing. :outwithit:

I agree with you tho, all of them had solid debut albums. :urite:

Solid taste! :urite:

I agree Walk Me Home is really beautiful and needs to be performed live again. I am proud Mandy did want to mature as an artist and decided not to be a sell out. That takes courage. She could of had at all but chose what she truly wanted and thats admirable. :gobaby:

Honestly though her early bubblegum pop bops >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> all modern day music tbh. It could save lives. :yesplease:

I also do like Vitamin C and Samantha Mumba. People said Samantha Mumba has dissed Britney before? I would like a receipt on that. I believe it when I see it?

Oh yeah, I give Mandy props for being able to transition into an adult artist with a career still.  :bgrin:

I liked all the Britney clones that came after, and I don't remember Samantha Mumba dissing Britney outright either.  But I remember her not liking the "Black Britney" label the media gave her. :bpo:

There were sooo many of them (copycats), especially in 2001. Like Hoku, Willa Ford, Brooke Allison, and Nikki (or Britteny) Cleary. Brooke and Nikki are extremely forgettable, with Brooke Allison's "The Kiss Off (Goodbye)". I believe there's a video of it on youtube. And then Nikki Cleary had the "I.M. Me" song which is extremely cringe-worthy. I guess Nikki Cleary was less of a Britney copycat and more of a teen singer copycat. Except her song sounds kind of country.

Ugh it's upsetting that Mandy hates her early work! Although she did perform like an acoustic/pop rock isn version of "Candy" during the promotion of Wild Hope. Except now Wild Hope isn't on iTunes, Spotify, or any other music streaming except some is on YouTube and there are rare copies of it on Amazon.

You listed a bunch of Britney clones I had never heard of before. :qtbrit: I just remembered Katie Cassidy also tried on a headset mic as well.

Mandy's early work is good too, I wish she wasn't ashamed of it like she is.  Plus it was a such a great time in pop music too.  :yeahhh:
