Anyone got soundscan numbers for Britney's third album (in 2001)?

I wonder would it sell more if they went with before the goodbye instead of sşave 4 u . Her image was already **** woman before Britney era but she totally destroyed her teen image with slave .

What an interesting question. In my small opinion, I think that they should have made the Don't Let Me Be The Last To Know video less ****. I think people might have took the I'm A Slave 4 U video, and song, in a more positive manner. Maybe people felt that by 'I'm A Slave 4 U' that she was rubbing *** in their faces too much. Maybe had she toned it down with 'Don't Let Me Be The Last To Know', people would have received 'Slave' a lot better.

I do believe that Britney went in the right direction with the 'Slave 4 U' song, because teen pop was slowly dying by late 2001, so she was smart to make that move before people got fully sick of teen pop! I don't think Before The Goodbye would have been a good choice as a first single.

There are a few reasons why her third album was kind of meant to sell less than the first two.

1. It was her third album in a row.

2. Britney was over-saturated in the media and overexposed by the beginning of her third album.

3. That damn radio ban, man! Grrr.

4. The change of her image was so drastic and intense, it shocked some people.

I remember she was annoyed that people called this album a flop even though it exceeded expectations and sold on par with other successful albums of that time (Let Go, Stripped, Survivor, Justified, etc.), and she was right.  Even with these extraneous factors-

- it still sold almost 11 million copies.  I'd have been pressed if I were her, too. :sickofu:

Anyway, Britney remains flawless.  To this day it's still my favorite album/era of hers.
