Legend has it this was the original lead single before they settled on IAS4U

legend has it get back was the original lead too. interesting. especially cuz britney is basically two (or even three) different albums in one, and the boys/ias4u part was the last one they recorded, so if a lead single got pushed to special edition bonus tracks tells us a lot about the executive production lol.

ikr. I often think about what that album would have been if they hadn't replaced half of it with the Crossroads soundtrack.

Hot As Ice (then called Cold As Fire) was also considered for lead from Blackout, and KTL was an original contender for lead from Circus. Such bizarre choices!

and to think that Toxic almost never made it as a single if it wasn't for Britney pushing for it

i remember when they released a snippet of ITZ (i think it was snippets of MATM, BOM, Toxic, and another song) and when Toxic came on, you just knew that it had to be a single

me against the music too, she only convinced the record label by featuring madonna iirc.

issue here is that 2003/2004 was a time when r&b was really popular and it was dripping into pop music, everyone was going r&b, so it made sense for them to go the outrageous/boom boom route

They may as well have rounded off the era with Brave New Girl for good measure

i remember when she released a snippet of BNG on tv and i was like "man that's gonna be a good song"

then i got the album and played the song...:triggered:

Aww I remember this!! I remember she played some (surprisingly good) piano melody she had made up and I COULDN'T WAIT to hear it on the album and then we never heard it again (apart from a tiny snippet on the ABC special)
