pablitonizer
RCA is a music bussiness, which means if the artist does not generate money with her/his album, they stop promoting it. It's all about the money, that's how the world of music's been working for the last 2000 years tbh. I believe they gave Britney a chance with Glory, but her team ****** it up big time (MM video mess, late promotion, no word on her album, terrible 2nd single choice, etc) I'm not saying RCA is not guilt, all I'm saying is they want money, as simple as that. Britney's last albums have not been money-makers and she's not touring either to make up for it (Except for this suspicious recent Asian tour) so we cannot blame RCA for giving up on Britney... if you were in their position, what would you do? BOBIBCFBG
Let's not pretend that there was a label issue with Criminal. It was a bad choice for a single. There are so many better tracks on FF and the GP doesn't give a **** about her slower songs. The problem is Britney. She doesn't promote. Link to comment

Just because she said it was her baby doesn't mean that was true. I don't feel it at all. Just like BJ was her most personal. They say that to sound good. Britney Jean was her most personal because she co-wrote every single track safe "Work, *****!". It was the mediocre, overly-electro production that delegitimized her work on the album. Glory was absolutely her baby—she spent 2.5 years recording nearly 40 songs—but ultimately she's not executive producer of her own albums, so other people have more weight in the final decisions. 13 hours ago, mr-photogenic said: She needs to establish her own record label - Original Doll Records I'm so for this! Instead of an Original Doll album, an Original Doll record label I'd really love to hear more Deepvoiceney, à la "(To Love) Let Go". I know there was a rumor about it for a minute, but could you imagine Lana Del Rey and Britney singing a stripped-down duet? Lana has mentioned multiple times that she is inspired by Britney's voice and stage presence, and I think their voices would really do well together. In another world...! Link to comment

It worked out well for Miley, since she had one of the best selling albums of the year. Britney did virtually no promo and it shows with her sales. That's why RCA has nothing to do with this. neonxangel
It's not the labels fought. Stop blaming them. Britney is not selling, she isnt as popular as she once was. People are not buying her music, only really streaming her old music. But Britney doesnt really care if her music sells, we all know if she could she would officially retire. Why would a label waste their money on someone who doesnt want to actually sell her music. They have to pay for the music videos, for the producers, lyracist, even the radios to play it. If Britney doesnt sell, they dont get their money back, so why would they waste their money? Link to comment

She had a very passive aggressive way of dealing with her issues with her team and label in the past because of years of not being able to stand up for herself. She is such a beautiful person because of her lack of huge ego that other artists have a little too much of but that is also problematic. She just needs to learn how to find a balance between extreme rebellion and complete submissiveness. I always thought about that, thanks for putting it out here. She should learn with Anitta who is her own manager, boss of her own and is doing incredible with her career. Link to comment

You know, people act like Britney's situation with her record company and team in general is unique compared to others but all artists have a problem establishing their creative independence. The difference with them and Britney is that she lets them walk all over her and it caught up with her after so many years of.... anigif_enhanced-10178-1413257152-8.gif Unlike other artists, she goes out of her way to defend some of her label's worst ideas and then we find out during In The Zone that she has never done what she wanted. Then, she marries twice and starts not wearing underwear when leaving a club in paparazzi pictures. Link to comment

Honestly, I think Britney being her own manager is the wrong step for someone like her. Given her background and maturity level, I do not think it would work out best. In fact, I think that is exactly what she tried to do when she fired Larry as her manager. I do think she needs new management. I think it would help if she had someone responsible but younger and does not prior history with Britney, so they could establish their brand and business together. That person, he or she, could handle managing her while Britney makes whatever creative decision she wants. It would be someone who really gets her and is someone on her team but is an expert as well, so it will not be someone who will not take her career to the next level. Link to comment
SomeoneGimmeBritney
I have to agree that RCA isn't doing her any favours. The original Femme Fatale concept was scrapped altogether in favour of a dance-pop album (was that under Jive or RCA)? and then Britney Jean was meant to be Blackout 2.0 but we instead got a watered down version with will.i.am songs, one of which was a reject from his own album (It Should Be Easy). We only got that because Scream & Shout was a big hit everywhere (and is probably one of the worst songs in her career). Then there was the whole business over Pretty Girls and how that was meant to be the lead single of what later became Glory. Then they only released two singles from each album and both Britney Jean and Glory had more potential singles. Whatever happened to Alien being released? People sometimes give out about Katy Perry but at least she releases more singles from each album. She released over 6 from Teenage Dream and the rerelease and at least 4 from Prism, including promotional singles. Why isn't Britney able to do the same? She also released two singles from Witness before the album was even released. Ever since Circus Britney has been flopping and it's not hard to see why. Part of it is because she has been overshadowed by other acts considered more 'cool' than her (eg Beyonce - it seems to be 'trendy' to praise her as though she's the second coming of music) and part of it is her label. Of course the conservatorship does not help either as she's essentially trapped. Maybe Britney herself knows she's trapped and is powerless to do anything about it, which is why she has lost interest in promoting. Link to comment
BraveGraphics
The only problem is that Britney needs to be more hands on with her career if she wants to anyways. She should get a new managment if she wants to be trendy again (her team still stuck in 2004), but if she is okay with her status fine by me as long as we're getting new music Link to comment
prettylittleliar_2214
She does need to leave RCA because that label lacks the funds and marketing for most of the clients. The label will not invest in more singles if they're underperforming or flopping. So this brings us back to the canceled video and poor promotion choices, timing, and execution of the original strategy. Britney and her team were stupid to shoot a video that just didn't work and spend all of the budget on a shoot. That's not smart at all. She needs to be meeting with new people who are very creative instead of trying to relive her past. Focus on the future. They could've at least informed the fans that the video needed to be reshot. Releasing a second singles months after an underperformance is a Demi Lovato move. They don't know what they're doing and the label being crappy just makes a bad situation even worse. Link to comment

Till the World Ends won a VMA and sold over 3 million digital downloads. All the videos have over 100,000,000 views on YouTube, and TTWE and IWG are closer to 200,000,000. The tour was one of the Top 20 grossing of the year. Hardly a flop. Link to comment
