I'm shocked by how well Vegas has done. It also bounced back from an early slump. It makes her less relevant culturally but no one can deny it's been a stunning success for what it is. She has also been a trailblazer for younger acts in Vegas.

Madonna is the top female touring artist on the planet...hardly fair to use her as a benchmark for what a 'big deal' is. Also, the theaters used for residencies obviously don't hold as many people as arenas or stadiums, but a ton of money is saved by not having to move everything and everyone around from city to city. The people come to you instead of you coming to them -- that's a big ******* difference and you have to take that into account.
