Britney Spears is a POP ICON but why aren't they?

Britney has officially started to become an ICON artist more than a current artist (take this as a positive or a negative fact) with, up to now a ULTIMATE TEEN CHOICE AWARD, A MTV VANGUARD AWARD, BILLBOARD MILLENNIUM AWARD and now a RADIO DISNEY ICON AWARD from which the latter was given due to her MMC days and her influence in her early days in the 90's so this made think about something:

Both Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera share many similarities, they 3 come from the same tv show, they debuted with bubblegum pop in late 90's, people grew up with them yet our Brit is the one who's taking the ICON IMAGE. I love them 3 (despite the fact I sometimes make fun of C.A. but I still love her).

Justin was huge in early 00's due to Nsync and his 1st album, during 2006 had great hits **** back, My love and What goes around, even in 2013 Suit and tie, Mirrors and his MJ collaboration were great hits, yet he is not an icon. 

Christina was obviously huge in early 00's as well as JT and Brit, up until 2007 she was still great even in 2010's she had huge hits due to the collaborations she had with Maroon 5, Pitbull and A Great Big World, she always promoted her music and delivered amazing live vocals but if we compare her to BS, she's just not that much iconic. 

WHAT WOULD YOU THINK IT IS THE DIFFERENCE?

JUST A FEW REMINDERS:

I think Justin hasnt put out that much music yet. He went like YEARS without putting out an album. I am sure he will get similar treatment because as it is he is very well respected in the industry.

well justin has received such award too such as avanguard mtv award but i cant say the same for c.a

Justin hasn't released that many songs and he hasn't had THAT many hits compared to other artists. Even his hits - which without doubt are amazing - are really not iconic.

 

 

Christina hasn't been able to tour since 2008. End of story.

The major difference is that Britney has sold 100 million more albums BY HERSELF than both of those artists - they're not icons yet individually

I think it really boils down to the fact that she was so huge so early on in her career. And she has had such a massive catalog full of hits that allowed her to move that great notoriety through her years as an artist. Britney will always be very popular, no matter what.

1. Justin is huge world wide but he doesn't have a solid fanbase to help him win everytime...people don't put so much effort for him, they just like his music... for example.. he launches a great song, that song has a huge impact and he wins through that impact not because his fanbase stayed awake all night long to vote for him....

Britney has a solid fanbase, even she launches a ****, we will be here for her no matter what...

2. Everyone loves Britney as a person, very often we care more about her as a human being, we care how she is, we wonder where she is, what she is doing... this is not happening with Justin or Christina.. when is about them, people care more about them as an artists

Don't talk as if Britney is that big that even when she's flopping the rest of the world still checks for her. The USA is the only one who might still treat her royal. 

Britney had her last decent somehow worldwide hit like in 2011. Half of the world forgot Britney Spears even exists.

I'm more than sure. She's 35 and looks 10 yo older. She won't be able to pull a Mariah Carey. She ain't hot enough. And she does not have the voice either.

The only songs people still listen are BOMT and Toxic. WB? In your country, maybe, here people don't know the song. 

CSTF was bigger than everything Britney released in 10 years. 

I wouldn't call other artists' music cheap when BJ exists.

Britney has impact, and ********* is successful through the sales...there are a lot of types of success (impact, sales, popularity)

Well, there's so many things, starting with the fact that they're very different, as persons, so it doesn't matter if they started at the same time or at the same place.

As many others have said, JT went for his acting career for several years, so he hasn't been like totally constant on music, and yet he received a Video Vanguard Award already Christina Aguilera, I really don't know what happened or when did she start to erase from people's minds. Sometimes I think she was huge in the 00's mostly because of Britney. And I won't deny her talent, what I mean is that there were many other talented people that weren't as recognized as Christina once was. Britney Spears was the biggest of them all, so everybody either loved Britney or hated her, and most likely people that hated her, had to choose another one to name the best, and their choice was Christina. Christina was noticeable because of the Britney rivalry. Once Britney went to her dark days, and overshadowed everything else on her career, the rivalry with Christina became the least entertaining about her, so Christina, along with the infamous rivalry, faded into oblivion.

But I think Britney just came out at the perfect timing. Yes there were other pop females in the past, but when Britney arrived to the music scene, the rule was that you had to be part of a band in order to be famous or successful, and she was just there, 16 years old, breaking any scheme. She wasn't a grown up woman like Madonna, she was just a teenager, and she just became the first, at least from her generation, to make a space for teenage girls in the business. JT on the other hand, by the time he went solo, he wasn't the only one from his kind, or the first one, I mean, he was already an adult, there were already other male solo acts, so he was just good, but wasn't the first one. Christina was good as well, but wasn't the first one either. Even if she did that Mulan song first, it just failed to make an impact like Britney's debut.

So now the industry is flooded with pop female acts, but even to this day they still see Britney as the inspiration, because she managed to keep current for more than a decade, and she is still a young person. And she is still the best, I mean, at least in her prime, ever since she came out, I haven't seen anyone else repeat or surpass what she did.
