I say X Factor. I enjoyed it at the time because it was Britney every week and she had been awfully shy about interviews around that time and it was a shock that she would be willing to do that show in the first place -- but that show was a sinking ship even before she walked onto it, it killed the idea that Britney was a ratings-generator (that is: she failed to save the sinking ship), she wasn't a great judge because she gave advice that was overly general, and she was not invited back for the third season.

She made a lot of money from it but it did nothing for her career.

You can't say it killed her chart career, because Scream and Shout did very well right after X Factor ended. But I think it killed the idea that she was a ratings guarantee, and I think she just wasn't quite ready to go out there and do something so high-intensity. She pulled through it and put in her hours and we can't deny her hilarious faces and cool moments, but...it just wasn't worth it.

Whoever voting 2007 VMAs can go to hell

You're right -- Pretty Girls should be on there. Pretty Girls actually has a lot of YouTube views but got a massively negative reaction, and she did a live performance on a major awards show. Her label did a radio deal for the song, too. It was being pushed as 'song of the summer.' It was a major flop. I should have included that. It was a huge mistake to associate with Iggy and a huge mistake to think that song could have been song of the summer.

I added it.

Probably everything in that list :ipass:

I'd probably choose her not to shoot the infamous Outrageous video.
If only she didn't fall during the shoot... everything would be different. That accident really changed EVERYTHING and was the like the death of danceney.

:jlostare:
Worst day every for the history of pop music

I went for FF promo performances, as it felt like she'd had a big comeback (Circus) and she'd performed OK on tv in 2008 and then her TV comeback featured her looking like a zombie and stumbling around the stage. The best performer in the world of 2003/2004 looked talentless in 2011 and she's never recovered :tiffanycries:

 This. Promo performances of FF were extremely bad. That period was really terrible.

And was I the only one who believed things would get better and better after Circus era? Plus the Brian Friedman news excited me. And then BAM! The promo performances happened and it was like 10 steps back :crying11:

I feel the same.
But the really disappointment for me was actually the hold it against me music video. I really hoped and believed she would get better after Circus era, and that awful dancing really destroyed my dreams. I was so devastated I only watched the full video like 4-5 times in 6 years. When the FF promo performance happened it was the nail in the coffin for me :(

No, of course not. A lot of us were underwhelmed by Circus but figured it was natural that she'd need some time to improve and get her confidence back. Her team also hyped the HIAM video with the daily teasers, the Brian Friedman news, and, plus, I thought they wouldn't release a dance single with a big breakdown like that if she wasn't ready to dance. Then came the Rain performance and I was pretty shocked and upset. When the video's dancing wasn't great either, I began the process of accepting that this was just how things were going to be from now on, that something had changed in her. I loved the Femme Fatale era and videos, but it was a rough era in that we had to come to terms with the fact that she had simply lost her old dancing spark.

vegas, and not because i'm following the bandwaggon. i didn't think it was a good idea when it was just rumors, i didn't think it was a good idea when it started and i don't think it's a good idea now. she's literally rotting in there, people are forgetting that she exists, and yes she changed a bit of the view of the las vegas residency, but lbr the gp still sees her as a has been that just went there to retire. plus she looked bored like 40% of the past 3 years, the costumes/makeup and choreo are getting worse because she keeps cutting all the good stuff and only executing the moves halfway through, it's sad really.

will i am is a close second for obvious reasons :moorangu:

x factor - though the only time i saw britney was at the providence auditions it was a bad career move because what britney does best is performing not sitting in a chair awkwardly critiquing people -britney is too humble for that, it also created too much of a time gap between FF and BJ that she lost her groove of making music, dancing etc. and tbh i believe that the first leg of POM wasn't as good as it should have, dance wise or her body being in shape either BECAUSE of this gap that she wasn't rehearsing; its also noted as the reason why Britney started getting work done because potentially she didn't like the way she looked on tv/was criticized for looking bad, old etc;
