I don't know. I was listening to it the other day while I was waiting for the trolley, and it does sound outdated. The POM remix sounds more fresh, but the original version lacks a strong beat, like, it's lacking instruments or I don't know how to say it. It sounds empty compared to other current songs, or compared to Glory songs for example. I do love it the way it is, but it would need a little bit of rework to be released these days.

I think Toxic sounds more timeless than Slave. But for me Breathe on Me would take that spot.

You can tell BOMT and OIDIA albums are older, but I'm A Slave 4 U is her first song that is modern and timeless. It could be released today and still sound fresh. What other Britney songs do you think are/will be timeless?

I love slave, this song is taking over your bod-ay!!br2S3b.gif

I think Overprotected and HIAM are dated sounding tbh. Obviously they're not bad, they're just not timeless imo

Eh, I disagree that 'Slave' is timeless.  It's obviously an amazing song, but it's the epitome of that ~edgy~ pop/urban thing that so many big artists ('NSYNC, Justin, Christina, Nelly, Destiny's Child, Mariah, Janet, etc.) were doing back then.  Total product of its time.  It sounds like it came out in 2001, and there's nothing wrong with that.

I'd say '...BOMT' is pretty timeless.  I've heard it on the radio mixed in with current stuff and it fit in perfectly; it didn't sound dated or out of place at all.  I think her most timeless song will always be 'Toxic', though.  It's just as fresh now as it was in 2003.  Masterpiece.
