But there's plenty of blame to go around, why did team britney schedule zero promo? If they were smart, they would do promo before she started POM again and they would work with the label to discount it at around the same time. So many missed opportunities.

Of course it's not going to magically rise on the charts if they discount it.

But think, if they discount it then it will be featured in the 69 cent section on iTunes. This will give it more exposure. And if they plan promo at the same time, it'll make the song rise more.

when a song is discounted, it gets put in the 0.69c section. If they want, they can put it under Hot tracks for x2 exposure.

That's what makes the songs rise.
