Unfortunately it's not. The Oscars are the same. Everything is about lobbying... The only Grammy I still don't get is Best New Artist. Damn she deserved that one. Everybody was shocked, even Rock journalists I remember... I don't care if she wins another Grammy. It's biased af. Beyoncé has more grammies than any other artist... She has more grammis than Michael Jackson, that says a lot on how this award show is ****** up!

Most of Beyonce's Grammys come from R&B categories. Can you name 3 other R&B singers as big as her. When stacked against Jasmine Sullivan's and Ledisi's of course Beyonce is gonna win off her name alone.

But this year she is probably gonna win all the categories with Limonada. Best Male & Female, Best Pop, Best Country. :(

I would die if she submitted that Daddy song for consideration in the country categories. But I don't think she's winning much outside her regular R&B categories.

Beyonce has the luxury of not having much competition in her categories, Britney has to compete with everybody. If Taylor Swift was nominated for Best Pop Vocal Album (female) I can see Brit getting a nomination. Glory was a pretty solid pop album.

I'm sorry, but do the Grammy's have a new category for albums that fell off the BB200 fastest in history? Glory is amazing, but y'all be dreaming if you think the Grammy's give a **** about Britney.

ok lets give a grammy to demi and her new album/singles smasha :ipass:

"Glory" has good chances, but the competition will be hard, "25" (Adele), "The purpose" (Justin Bieber), "A head full of dreams" (Coldplay), "Dangerous woman" (Ariana Grande), and "This is acting" (Sia) have higher chances to score a nod on the Pop album category, they all were more successful and had better campaigns than "Glory".

"Glory" is up there close as a runner-up at #6 or #7 in the line IMO. If Coldplay submitted for Rock (which I doubt) or there's a tie that get 6 nominees then "Glory" could get in.

I agree it's not on quality alone; simply by looking at the scores of truly undeserving winners, you have to realize there is an element of bribery from record labels, in addition to simple popularity of an artist/song on any given year than sways the committee.

However, I don't think it's completely fixed. For example, Kelly Clarkson has definitely deserved all the Grammys shes won, and her long, well-publicized feud with RCA indicates they would hardly lobby on her behalf. In fact, I remember a few years prior when she won for best pop album for "Stronger," she was so genuinely surprised that was drunk when she received the award and gave her speech :lolnoworries:

It was a stark contrast to those winners who've clearly practiced their "surprised" face...:zoomzoom:

Also, to those of you talking about chart position and the Best New Artist thing with Xtina, you have to remember Christina WAS charting better. She had three of her singles from her debut album go to #1, while Genie in a Bottle was ultimately the top-selling debut single of 1999 in the United States. We remember Brit as having been more popular simply due to her massive cultural impact and current legacy, but she didn't actually catch up with Xtina for number of #1s until AFTER her breakdown. And of course, Brit's career has fared miles better thereafter, to where they're now simply incomparable.  It wasn't always like that though.

Britney had the bigger album though. What makes you think they look at how singles chart? Anyways, X got better charting songs because her singles got a proper physical release, unlike Britney's. For example, Crazy was destined for #1. It was huge on radio and it charted solely on its airplay, but it didn't get a physical release. Only BOMT was released physically in stores as a standalone song.

Yeah, ...BOMT sold better than just about anything ever (14 million copies!), but even so, Christina's debut album also debuted at #1 and sold 8 million copies in the US. There WAS a genuine "rivalry" there, albeit commercial rather than really personal. Right away, Xtina was known as the singer while Brit was known as the dancer/entertainer; these kinds of things would impact their overall image of "artistry" to something like the Grammys, IMO.

I was surprised we were talking about commercial success though. Is that what Grammys look at? :jolieoverit:

They voted for Xtina because of her stronger vocals I guess. Isn't that their focus anyways in this award show? But again, Meghan won the award with stronger vocalists as her competitors. I'm confused, they're really bipolar. Perhaps because it was close commercially (in the US) between Xtina and Britney so they went for the vocals.
