If Britney came out doing what she does today

Would she still be iconic? If she didn't have her legacy would she be considered talented?

im trying to think in terms of her impact as an artist today. As fans we all know how talented our girl is but I'm wondering if girl debuted with Glory and performed like she does now. How would she rank as a pop star? (Not looking at promo schedules and what her team does and doesn't do) let's say she does promo and shes hungry to sustain in the industry.

Would she be considered to be on the level of Tinashe? Like people know of her but It's not massive. Or would she be someone like Ariana. Where people know ha. or would she be under the radar like Aubrey oday and Nicole scherzinger where they put out good songs but no one checks for them.

And by this I don't mean any shade: I'm thinking Heidi montag. Let's face it the gays love Heidi. Superficial is such a bop album but they don't think she's talented. Just like Paris or hilary duff.

she would not even get a record label. baby nasally voice is not so in right now. nowadays its all about powerhouse vocal runs, like adele's. people just love to show off their vocal as much as possible. and her dance with lip syncing is not cutting it.

but lbr if she never had the breakdown she would not become this britney we have currently. she would slay tf out of everyone and probably will never have a breakdown as it's on trend now to be kind and compassionate rather than mean spirited like how it was when she's in her prime. she'd be a legend by 2020.

Maybe..

Its hard to say..

There is so much influence of her past on her current work that its hard to detach the two imo

She'd be a nobody. Someone who does mediocre choreo, and lip synchs for no reason would be like a drag queen.

that pisses me off so much, it's like Britney insists on NOT showing off any sort of talent. She has done that for the past 9 years.

although occasjonal and few live vocals and energy bursts are displayed.

also, she can still onviously slay, she just doesn't seem like she wants to show people she had talent

so no, she'd be nowhere.

no way her label/team would allow her lipsync all the time if she was beginner...and we know Britney has an unique voice so maybe she would be famous in different way

no... her new album is way too mainstream, it won't stand out. Even with her Primeney legacy nobody is buying Glory.

Her dancing is very weak now, back when she was famous she was known for her amazing dancing (and amazing hits). and she lipsyncs 100% of the time now, back then she would sing live now and then.

Nowadays, she does nothing iconic. During her prime, A LOT of the things she did were iconic. She was on top of the world, but her priorities changed and it's way different nowadays.

she also hates promoting/performing now, too...

People remember Britney Spears for everything that she's done in the past.

Her label made her sing nasally tho. She got her contract singing whitney

I don't understand the point of these hypotheticals. It's pointless and useless. What knowledge do you gain? None whatsoever

This.

Pop music would be totally different right now without Britney's 20 years of heavy influence.

And she wouldn't be striving to become a popstar at age 35.

Musically I think she'd do pretty well. If Glory was her debut album people would love it and support it because they'd be able to appreciate how good it is without the prejudices of it being a Britney Spears album, but maybe as a performer she'd have to step it up a bit. Again, she wouldn't be in the same situation she is right now, if she was debuting I'm sure she'd give her all like she did back in 1999, whereas right now she's just doing what she loves to do for fun, without the pressure of having to be perfect.

yeah but i was imagining the current state of britney, trying to debut as an artist. so her voice i picture is her current baby-ish voice.

You can't even compare  the music industry and performances are so different nowadays than 18 years ago. Nobody cares about dancing anymore, is all about singing.
