Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeea. You make statements and then 2nd guess those same statements in the next sentence.lol  A lot of people got fired during the acquisition  from both RCA and JIVE.RCA actually had to downsize when they took JIVE's roster. So make no mistake ,most of JIVE's employees got FIRED.

Haha I know trust me that was an exhausting post and I literally know nothing about the situation tbh :shameless: I think I made a (un) clear point that perhaps RCA is the best recording label for Britney. But then again I'm not sure if there are others out there who would represent her/her brand better :angietea: Where would you like Britney to be in terms of recording contract/record label?

Are you talking about in 2008?  He held the position as Chief Executive Officer of RCA/Jive Label Group until he left in 2011.... right before JIVE went  under.  Barry was never there after the merger.

I stand corrected

u must be a new fan

Jive did the same stuff

BTMYH was edited down

DLMBTLTK was edited down

Where Are You Now ... is still a unreleased music video Jive/Sony are holding

ILRNR was never released in the US by choice of Jive

Everytime was edited down

Outrageous has yet to see the light of day... even thro they had 3 full days of shooting and were just finishing up during her fall (it was the last shots to do)

Gimme More was edited down

than u have all the canceled planed filming for videos like Boom Boom and Radar

Glory cover comes as a last min thing due to LaChapelle not wanting anything to do with the project after RCA Britney and Larry didnt approve of the final video

(which is why the Make Me single cover is from his photoshoot)

Britney Jean was just a promo for Vegas and nothing more ...  :quirkney:

No, when Jive folded, Barry Weiss was promoted to Chairman of sony music or something like that. They even had a party for him and Britney was there to say a few things about him and how she owes her career to him. Though I think he left to universal later.

Of Sony maybe, but not of RCA which would mean she would no longer work directly with him even if he didn't leave

I'm so glad you brought this up!

i love Kelly as much as I love Britney. Have been a fan since her audition on Idol.

RCA is garbage. The moment Jive went to RCA I was nervous for how Britney's career would end up. They don't know how to properly market their artists.

SO glad Kelly is no longer with them. Now if only Britney would follow suit.

/end rant. Now back to my regularly scheduled streaming of Glory 24/7.

Yeah I was nervous too when Britney switched over because I knew Kelly had all sorts of trouble there and they have a reputation for being very controlling to the point of literally making their artists flop on purpose.

We complained about not letting Britney do what she wanted, only three singles for ITZ, overprotected video (not the remix version), gimme more funeral scenes missing, VMAS 07 performance (yes we blamed jive not Britney), Piece of me video lack of dancing, circus era lack of promo, and many many more.

We are never satisfied until we realize that Britney isn't the same that she used to, she's not hungry for hits or successful eras, she doesn't have stage present anymore..... Etc

WE MUST TAKE the new Britney as she is now or just let her go..

Sad but so true.

u r 4getting Britney is the final say... she always has been and always will be... she picks every album cover... if u dont like the pic blame her for picking it

As I said, for better or worse, JIVE was very controlling of Britney. Those video edits were what they thought was best to promote their artist.  JIVE cared.

JIVE didn't release an incoherent music video, create drama with a director, and then scrap the entire era after it didn't do well.
All of those years under JIVE and we always got more than 2 singles. Even during 2007.

Blame VEGAS all you want but that has little to do with RCA.

Where is our 2nd single??!!

Does anyone know how RCA's contract works with the Vegas residency?

Usually when artists have 360 contracts, it means the label makes a cut of ticket sales. Is it the same arrangement for POM, or have they got something different worked out?

The budgets for POM seem to be quite small for an artist of Britney's stature...which is the reason I'm asking.

BTMYH originally was supposed to be about Britney being pregnant.  That is not smart since she was being marketed to tweens.

DLMBTLTK was edited down because Britney's mother thought some of the scenes were too ******.

Everytime was originally about suicide but the edited video is still amazing!

During GM she was a mess, we saw pictures from the set and she was not in the best shape physically and would have been bashed for her body.

They even released a video for BTI and KTL.

RCA has presided over two of the biggest video messes in Britney history - first with Joseph Khan and now with David LaChapelle.

Perfume's concept had been edited so much it doesn't make sense and for Make Me it is the first time in Britney history they had to scrap a video.

I'm sorry but this would have NEVER HAPPENED under Jive.

Jive scrapped the Original Doll because it wasn't good enough.  Jive would NEVER let Britney release an album or video of low quality...EVER!!!

Make Me would have been a hit if she was still under Jive.

Jive also ensured that ALL Britney's albums debuted at number 1.

Jive pushed back the release of Blackout to ensure Britney didn't have to compete with Alicia Keys who was set to open with 700K.

However, Jive did not realize Billboard would have changed the rules at the last minute thereby allowing Eagles album to debut at number 1.

Jive even made sure that Britney released 4 singles from Blackout by releasing an animated video for BTI and including Radar as a bonus track on Circus to release as the fourth single off that era.

Question...

Was the video for Do Somethin' released in the US? I heard that it wasn't, but was always able to view it in Canada.

That's another video that Jive and Britney clashed on.

JIVE worked hard for Britney and she was their star. I remember the Blackout debut fiasco with Billboard changing rules by allowing Walmart sales ( that were bought from overseas store chains!) to be counted.

JIVE also didn't pressure Britney to release a personal album, probably because they knew she wasn't ready for it. Musically, Britney Jean is Britneys most personal sounding album. Songs like "Till It's Gone" and "Don't Cry"  is the same kind of her music her peers used around 2002-2004 to break away from dance pop.  After all this time, I was excepting something more genuine if Britney Spears was going to go personal. RCA failed.

It was released. I remember seeing it on TRL and I actually voted for it. :shameless:

I don't remember JIVE having an issue with the  video though.

I was thinking about it earlier, RCA has never treated her the way she should be.....I think they have always seen her as an older Pop star who's never going to be hot again and so they don't treat her releases with enough care and consideration nor advertise them enough! I mean who ever at RCA picked the release date for Glory should honestly be fired....it's like they wanted her to flop or expected it so they're like well Barabara's releasing too but oh well it's just Britney. Jive would've never ever let her release Glory that day.....they always picked weeks when there was no competition and made sure her album was in every ad and all over the place.....Glory was in zero ads the week of its release.

It's funny hearing all of this talk about how great JIVE was because from what I remember, Britney was fighting with them non-stop leading up to 2007. I always considered it to be a large contribution to her breakdown. As much, if not more, than the custody battle.

"Dear Fans,

A new year is starting and I have so many resolutions. If only I could convince myself to stick to them!

My Christmas was wonderful and I had such a great break. I think I should rephrase myself from my previous letters when I was talking about taking a “break”. What I meant was I am taking a break from being told what to do. True Masters say it’s cool when you look at someone and don’t know whether they are at work or play since it’s all the same to them. The things I’ve been doing for work lately have been so much fun, because it’s not like work to me anymore. I’ve been even more “hands on” in my management and the business side of things and I feel more in control than ever.

I just shot a cute video for “Do Something” that I co-directed. After doing about 20 videos, it gets kind of boring playing the same role, so I chose to work with a young, hungry, director Bille Woodruff. He had no ego whatsoever and the whole process was just so much fun. Oh, his dog was just adorable too.

As much fun as I had, I have to say I was a little disappointed that I still had to convince my record label that making this video was the right thing to do at this time. But, in the end, I think everything came out great...

Co-directing this video was like an experimental project for me. I feel like being behind the camera is sometimes more satisfying than being in front of it...When a woman directs, I think it just alters the entire feel of the movie, production or play in such a positive way. Speaking of, I’ve been working on writing and hopefully eventually directing a musical which makes fun of the whole Hollywood scene, which is appropriately titled “Hollywood”.

On a different note, I have a new dog named Lucky...

Happy New Year!
Love, Brit"

No one is saying Jive is great but Jive was like a parent who looked out for Britney's best interests.  They did allow Britney to take risks such as releasing Toxic which she had to fight with Jive to get released.  At the end of the day Jive did listen to Britney but they wouldn't let her just do anything she liked.  As she said she had to fight with them to get a lot of what she wanted but Jive did listen to her and allow her to do a lot of stuff.  Jive would have never allowed a Perfume or Make Me video to be released though.

To blame Jive for Britney's breakdown is really far-fetched.  Her breakdown had to do with her personal life.

I edited the other post but I'll just post what I said there here.lol

This was the same time Britney went behind JIVE's back and debuted Mona Lisa at a random radio station.  I know JIVE did not want her to release Mona Lisa. I always felt like JIVE released "Do somethin" as a compromise to keep Britney from completely rebelling against them.  JIVE was very controlling and overly protective of her image. Britney's musical maturity was a slow process, but it did allow fans to grow with her. They kept her from being a 'personal artist'.
