Applejack put it very eloquently here, 'They'd have to be in college for the child support extension in Hawaii (so otherwise, in Hawaii child support ends at 18 too!) and that on top of the fact that they're almost 18 so their child support is basically about to end in California, so they wouldn't be able to file to change their custody arrangement to Hawaii (if they move to Hawaii, their custody arrangement will still be the California one) These two things aren't easy and quick to obtain at this point of the game' -
