singing off key is not an indicator of an inability to sing or 'bad ear'

a variety of things could cause that, including: not being present / not paying attention / not listening, breath support, and many other factors. and yeah, that track could have been tampered with a bit.

good singing and a nice voice are not mutually exclusive; lots of ppl can sing but might not have a pleasing voice / tone, etc. 

IMO britney has both the ability to sing and a pretty singing voice with a nice color.
