On 9 December 1999, only one week following her 18th birthday, Britney Jean Spears saw her debut album ...Baby One More Time certified diamond by the RIAA. The album was preceded by the explosive hit single of the same name a little less than three months prior, and both are now widely considered some of the most important milestones in modern music. The debut is the highest selling album released by teenager, and made Britney Spears a household name by attaining diamond status less than 11 months after release, producing a career that would occupy the minds of America long after ...Baby One More Time's most recent certification update--14x platinum as of 19 July 2004.
